In Memoriam of Frank G. Clary, AFSC '53

It is with much sorrow that Calvert Hall shares with you news regarding the passing on September 30, 2015 of Mr. Frank Gerard Clary, AFSC ’53.
In his meditation for today, the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels John Baptist de La Salle wrote:

"Let us admire God's goodness, and thank him for the grace he has given us in assigning an angel to take care of us, protect us, and serve us." (MTR 172.1)

Frank has been and will continue to be an angel for the Calvert Hall community.

A dedicated employee of Calvert Hall for more than 55 years, ‘Mr. Frank’ as he was lovingly known, guided the transition of the school to its current location in Towson. As Office Manager and Treasurer, he worked diligently to ensure the smooth operation of the school. Frank took a great personal interest in each student, faculty and staff member. Tom Malstrom '84, former alumni president and director of advancement at Calvert Hall, commented, "Frank ensured students always were with a textbook and that families were never overwhelmed by their financial obligations to the school. To many, this skill was referred to as 'Clary Magic'.”

Frank's contributions as a student, alumnus and employee were honored when he was inducted into the Calvert Hall Alumni Hall of Fame in 1982. The Christian Brothers recognized the devotion of Frank and his wife Shirley to Calvert Hall by making them affiliated members of the Christian Brothers.

Frank challenged the students of Calvert Hall, encouraging them to strive towards their absolute best. He truly cared about the well-being of others, and was invested in their success. Frank adored his wife Shirley T. Clary, AFSC, and was a devoted father of Stephen Clary '76, Cynthia Rose, and loving grandfather of Justine Bauer, Deirdre Foreman and Sean Clary. Today's first Friday Mass at Calvert Hall was offered for the repose of his soul.

A viewing for family and friends will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015 (6:00 – 8:00 p.m.) and Sunday, October 4, 2015 (3:00 – 7:00 p.m.) at Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Church, Texas on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in his memory to the Frank G. Clary, AFSC Scholarship Fund at Calvert Hall College.

Sincerely,

Brother John Kane, FSC
