In Memoriam of Suzanne Thompson

It is with great sorrow that Calvert Hall shares with you news regarding the passing on Monday, September 5, 2016, of Calvert Hall Faculty member, Mrs. Suzanne Thompson.

Mrs. Thompson began working at Calvert Hall in 2005 and taught here for 11 years. She earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her M.A.T. from Goucher College. Her son, John Bodnar, is a 2008 graduate of The Hall.

President, Brother John Kane FSC, offered, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Suzanne. She was a wonderful educator and deeply committed to the Mission of Calvert Hall with her work in the La Salle Program. St. La Salle emphasized gentleness as a characteristic that teachers should have for their students. Suzanne exemplified this characteristic. She possessed a gentle soul and deeply cared about her family, students and colleagues. We will miss her and know she will continue to live in our hearts." Principal, Charles Stembler '83, will remember Suzanne as "always being student-centered. All that she did revolved around what was best for her students."
 
Mrs. Jennifer Healy, Director of the La Salle Program, shared, "Mrs. Thompson was known for her positive spirit, gentle and caring nature, and her appreciation for all that life had to offer. Beyond academics, she challenged her students to work to become the best possible verison of themselves. She will be greatly missed, but her loving spirit will remain with us always."
 
A memorial service for family and friends will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Marion Burk Knott Center for the Performing Arts of Calvert Hall College High School. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in her name may be made to the Calvert Hall College High School La Salle Program, the Morgan Family Foundation, Catch a Life Fund, or Hopewell Cancer Support.
