|Calvert Hall Robotics to host first Cardinal Classic VRC Tournament|
Forty-four teams, including 8 from Calvert Hall, have registered to participate in the first ever Cardinal Classic Vex Robotics Competition at Calvert Hall on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The tournament features Middle School and High School teams and will qualify teams for the Maryland State Championship and the U.S. Open. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Head-to-head matches run from 9am-2pm followed by elimination rounds to crown a 3-team tournament champion in the afternoon.
Calvert Hall’s Robotics Program, which is moderated by Mrs. Renie Brown, a member of the school’s Math Department, has already qualified 6 teams for the Maryland State High School Championship in Westminster , MD on March 8th. Calvert Hall also has at least one team, which is currently in 3rd place in the World Programming Skills rankings, qualified for the 2014 VEX Robotics World Championship High School Division in Anaheim, CA April 23-26, 2014. The top 30 teams in the world get an automatic bid to Anaheim and Calvert Hall currently has several teams ranked close to the top 30 in Robot Skills who are also hoping to qualify.
