Our students become men who know how to set and attain high personal and professional goals, and we believe our focused, all boys approach is critical to helping them realize their fullest potential.

The All Boys Advantage of Calvert Hall College High School

What makes single sex education so effective for boys? Numerous studies, authors, and educators have shown that boys and girls learn differently and that boys mature at a rate that is different from girls; as a result, they have different needs, learning styles, and approaches to life.
Boys’ schools have a natural advantage, since they can tailor their curriculums to topics that interest boys and teach those topics in ways that promote a more diverse and well-rounded educational experience. This will improve grades in the short term, and in the long term, give the boys the tools they need to succeed far beyond the walls of a school.
For over 170 years, we have educated young men. We get them, and we get how they learn. The young men of Calvert Hall have teachers who understand how the brains of adolescent males work and know how to most effectively work with them. For example, we know that one way to get and keep boys energized and interested is to keep the classroom lively.
We give our young men opportunities they might not have in a co-ed school. In an all male environment, boys are more likely to pursue their interests in art, music, drama, and foreign languages. Our setting, free of social pressures and anxieties, keeps our students engaged and allows them to work outside their comfort zones, try new things, and make important strides.
Calvert Hall boys don’t need to worry about not interacting with girls, as the opportunities to do so are plentiful. With co-ed social activities including dances, proms, competitions, and athletic events, young women have a regular presence on our campus.
