Calvert Hall College High School Announces Hall 175, a $28 Million Campaign

The big announcement made during the October 6, 2022, President’s Reception at Calvert Hall College High School was presented by Brother John Kane, FSC, Ed.D., “We have now raised $21.5 million toward our goal of $28 million for Hall 175 – The Campaign for Calvert Hall.
Hall 175, the most ambitious fundraising initiative in Calvert Hall’s history, launched in 2019 to commemorate the school’s 175th Anniversary. Since then, thousands of alumni and their spouses, parents and grandparents, and friends of the Hall have contributed to the Campaign’s success so far. With 115 commitments of $25,000 or more – and four of at least $1,000,000 – the campaign is off to a great start.

Brother John noted, “Hall 175 is a call to action – and we are grateful that the Calvert Hall community is responding with great generosity.” He added, “These funds will help us meet the needs of our students and the expectations of their families. They will help us build onto our tradition of excellence as we prepare the men of the Hall to be successful leaders.

The Hall 175 Campaign has three strategic priorities:

The Endowment – “Growing the Hall’s Endowment is essential to maintain our competitive advantage,” explains Brother John. The Hall 175 goal is to elevate the Endowment from $12 million to at least $31.5 million. The enhanced Endowment will provide more funds for scholarships, needs-based tuition assistance, and faculty support, including additional resources for The Hall’s extensive extracurricular programs.

• To date, 45 new named scholarship endowments and two new Distinguished Chairs have been created by campaign donors

Capital Projects – “The remarkable generosity of the Campaign’s donors has enabled us to make cutting edge enhancements to our facilities” acknowledges Board Chair Jeff Nattans, a Class of 1985 Hall alumnus. Campaign support has supported an array of projects, including:

• Mary & Joseph Hirsch ’72 Theatre Lobby    • Kollman Music Center Practice Rooms
• Croteau Family STEM Lab    • The Veterans Tribute
• Multi-purpose Turf Practice Fields    • Indoor Baseball Batting Facility
• Training Room Expansion

Annual Giving – “More donors than ever are participating in All Day Hall Day – and, giving to The Hall Fund all through the year is stronger than ever,” reports Joe Baker ’76, head of The Hall’s Office of Advancement. These funds provide vitally needed unrestricted funds to support the school’s annual operations and restricted funds for tuition assistance, scholarships, and student-support programs.

Calvert Hall is a Catholic college preparatory school for young men in grades 9-12 under the leadership of the De La Salle Christian Brothers since its founding in Baltimore in 1845.
