Mr. Tom Fan's Letter for Br. Tom Miller

Hello Br. Tom Scholars:

I hope this letter finds you in good health and you are enjoying the summer. I just wanted to update you on the program and efforts to continue giving the best possible educational experience to our students.

Just to highlight a few topics:

  • On June 5th, the 176th commencement took place on campus again this year.  It was a wonderful celebration of all the accomplishments of this great group of young men, including the 21 Br. Tom Miller Scholars from the Class of 2021.

  • In the most recent Cardinal Magazine, you will see several students were asked for their thoughts on this past year.  Josh Fisher (Class of 2021 School President), Liam Kammer (‘21) & Tyler Lochte (‘21) are all BT students who were featured in the newsletter.

  • For the 2021-22 school year, we aim to fully return to in-person classes and resume our various programming.  Programs such as our college field trips, dinner speaker series, school partnerships and service events are all hallmarks that make the Br Tom Program so special to our students.

  • With this year’s All Day Hall Day, we tried something new. We challenged the alumni of the Br. Tom Miller Honors Program and the McMullen Scholars Program to give back to the Hall. This year’s All Day Hall Day set a new record for monies raised. Thank you to those who contributed.  We appreciate you and your families supporting Calvert Hall and our current students.

Lastly, as some of you may have heard, I have accepted the position of Assistant Principal of Academic Affairs at Calvert Hall. Mr. Blake is returning to the classroom in September to teach his first love; Math. Mrs. Nicolette Weir-Riley has taken over as Director of the Br. Tom Miller Honors Program. Mrs. Weir-Riley has been an integral part of the program the last four years.  It has been a smooth transition as she takes the lead and look forward with tremendous excitement to the Program’s continued growth under her leadership.

As an alum of the program, we know you are “life-long learners,” please keep us informed of your accomplishments, graduations, new jobs, promotions etc. Email us at forbesm@calverthall.com with any updates including new email address, mailing address and phone number changes. We would love to hear from you. If you are near campus, please stop by and say hello. With your help, we can continue to provide valuable opportunities to Calvert Hall students, especially those young men in the Br. Tom Program. I hope you have an enjoyable summer.

Best,
Mr. Fan
