Roller Coaster Feeling

Nashid Coleman
For all of you daredevil's out there who have braved the tallest and most sophisticated roller coasters, can relate to the feeling that our game against Mt. Carmel provided to many.  The game was up and down, then left, then right, and then with an unfortunate turn of events, we got that steep drop feeling in the pit of our stomach as the buzzer sounded.

The Cougars of Mt. Carmel came to LaSalle road with upset on their mind.  From the tip they were aggressive and focused on the task at hand.  However, your Cardinals were up for the challenge as the tug-of-war battle lasted the entire first have with the two teams being separated by just two points at the half.

The second half provided an example of what basketball is all about - a game of runs.  Mt. Carmel jumped ahead early in the second half before the Cardinals came storming back with an impressive run of their own leading by as much as 12 midway through the 4th quarter. The Cougars wouldn't quit and with the help of some untimely Cardinal turnovers, they were able to claw their way back into the game. At one point late into the 4th quarter Mt. Carmel led by two before the game was deadlocked and proceeded to overtime.

The overtime was very nip and tuck down to what looked like a win for the Cardinals or a second overtime period. But as "un"luck would have it, the ball got away from the Cardinals giving Cougar G Rasheed Brown the opportunity to heave a nearly half court shot at the buzzer, that found its way to the bottom of the net for the win.  It was an improbable shot, made at the most inopportune time.

The Cardinals are back in action Friday night against the Patriots of John Carroll.  Come out in your lumberjack apparel and cheer on the Cards in this Friday night clash!!  GO HALL!!
