In Memoriam of Jeffrey Nattans '85

It is with great sorrow that Calvert Hall shares the news of the passing of our Board of Trustees Chair, Jeffrey Nattans '85, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
A proud member of the Class of 1985, Jeff’s devotion to Calvert Hall extended throughout his life. He joined the Board of Trustees in July 2013 and ultimately served as its Chair, providing thoughtful and dedicated leadership in support of the school’s mission and future. During his time at Calvert Hall he was the ultimate student-athlete, achieving greatness in the classroom and as a two-sport athlete in soccer and basketball.

Jeff’s commitment to service extended well beyond The Hall. He served on the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Loyola University Maryland, from 2019 to 2023 and returned to serve the University in 2024. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of Baltimore, where he was a member of the Finance and Investment Committees, and on the Investment Committee of the Knott Scholarship Funds.

Following his graduation from Calvert Hall, Jeff attended Loyola University Maryland, where he earned a degree in Accounting, graduating summa cum laude. A gifted two-sport student-athlete, he was a four-year starter for the soccer team and co-captain of the basketball team during his senior year. Among his many academic and athletic honors, Jeff was named the Northeast Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 1988–89 and received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He later played professional soccer for the Maryland Bays, helping the team capture the 1990 American professional soccer championship.

Jeff continued his education at Harvard Business School, earning his MBA in 1996. Throughout a distinguished career in business and finance, he held leadership positions with Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Legg Mason, Franklin Templeton, Sagamore Ventures, and Black Diamond Financial.

His accomplishments earned recognition from each of the communities that helped shape him. In 1998, Jeff was inducted into the Loyola University Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2002, he was inducted into the Calvert Hall Alumni Hall of Fame, becoming its youngest inductee. He was also inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.

President Br. John Kane, FSC, reflected, “Jeff embodied what it means to be a Hallman. His love for Calvert Hall was evident in his unwavering commitment to our mission, our students, and the Brotherhood that meant so much to him. As Chair of the Board of Trustees, Jeff led with wisdom, integrity, and a genuine desire to ensure that The Hall remained strong for generations to come. His leadership helped shape the future of Calvert Hall, but it was his friendship, generosity, and deep devotion to this community that will be his lasting legacy.”

Above all, Jeff was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, and Hallman. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Spencer ’19; his father, BG Joe Nattans, Sr. ’60, USA (Ret.); his mother, Linda; his step-mother, Donna; and his brothers, Joe, Jr. ’83 and John ’86.

The entire Calvert Hall community extends its deepest sympathies to the Nattans family and joins them in mourning a man whose life of leadership, service, and devotion left an enduring mark on The Hall.

Details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared as they become available.
