Calvert Hall College High School and The Huffman Family Foundation Announce Construction of New Sports Performance Center
Calvert Hall College High School and The Huffman Family Foundation are pleased to announce the start of construction on The Huffman Family Sports Performance Center, an $800,000 renovation project that will transform existing space in Keelty Hall into a state-of-the-art facility supporting both academic and athletic excellence.
The project, made possible through the generosity of Richie and Dawn Huffman and The Huffman Family Foundation, reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the student experience and investing in the future of Calvert Hall.
Located within Keelty Hall adjacent to the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium, the existing locker room space will be reimagined into a dynamic, multi-purpose facility designed to meet the evolving needs of Calvert Hall students. The renovated space will feature three distinct areas, including an 80-seat lecture hall that will serve as additional classroom space during the academic day and team meeting space in the afternoons and evenings. A dedicated golf training area will house a previously donated golf simulator, providing the Golf program with a year-round development resource. The project will also include modernized locker room facilities for Physical Education classes and athletic teams.
“As a mother and President of The Huffman Family Foundation, I am always seeking opportunities to create a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of young people,” said Dawn Huffman. “The Calvert Hall community holds a special place in our family’s heart. Richie and I are excited to continue returning to this amazing school and witnessing the positive influence this project will have on generations of students.”
Calvert Hall President Br. John Kane, FSC, Ed.D. shared, “We are grateful for the extraordinary generosity of The Huffman Family Foundation. Richie and Dawn understand firsthand the lifelong impact of a Calvert Hall education through the experiences of their sons — Olen ’20, Evan ’22, Preston ’24, and Camden ’28 — each forging his own path while sharing in the same Brotherhood that defines The Hall. Their investment in this visionary new addition will make an immediate and lasting impact on our students, faculty, and future generations of Cardinals."
When presented with the opportunity to partner on the project, Huffman Family Foundation Founder and CEO Richie Huffman immediately recognized its potential. “Dawn and I knew that we had to jump on the chance to give back,” Huffman said. “This project is going to enrich a space for a community that means so much to our family. Not only will the revamping of this space at Calvert Hall provide an academic advantage for the students, but it will also serve to enhance the experience for the student athletes at the school. Being a student-athlete has been such an added benefit for our sons’ high school experience, and I am proud to help create opportunities that will positively impact future generations of Cardinals.”
Director of Athletics Dan Mulford ’05 believes the new facility will further distinguish Calvert Hall as a leader in both academics and athletics. "In addition to creating more academic class space for our students, this transformational facility will redefine the student-athlete experience at The Hall,” shared Mulford. “Featuring state-of-the-art locker rooms, dedicated team strategy and meeting spaces, and a cutting-edge golf simulator, this premier addition will fuel excellence, strengthen team culture, and elevate our athletic programs to new heights."
Construction is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2026–2027 academic year.
