Calvert Hall Names Darrick Freeman ’98 Interim Director of Student Activities
Calvert Hall College High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Darrick Freeman ’98 as Interim Director of Student Activities. A dedicated educator, alumnus, and campus leader, Freeman brings more than two decades of experience cultivating student engagement, leadership, and school spirit to his new role.
A member of the Calvert Hall faculty since 2002, Freeman currently serves as Chair of the World Languages Department and Director of the Summer Program. Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to enriching the student experience beyond the classroom, serving as moderator of numerous student organizations and events, including the Senior Class, Hall Night Long Dance, Assembly Committee, Intramural Sports Club, and previously the Martial Arts Club. His passion for mentoring students and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement has made him a trusted presence on campus.
"Darrick has always been a champion for our students," explained Brother John Kane, FSC, Ed.D, President of Calvert Hall. "Whether in the classroom, on campus after school, or at one of our many student events, he leads with enthusiasm, integrity, and a deep love for The Hall. His ability to connect with students and foster a vibrant campus culture makes him well-suited for this role."
Freeman is also a member of the inaugural Cardinals Leadership Institute for Faculty & Staff (CLIFFS) cohort, Calvert Hall's premier leadership development program designed to prepare faculty and staff for future leadership opportunities. Through the 18-month initiative, participants engage in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and executive decision-making while deepening their understanding of the school's mission and long-term vision.
A recipient of the Lasallian Educator of the Year Award and Calvert Hall's 2025 nominee for the Archdiocese of Baltimore Teacher of the Year, Freeman has consistently demonstrated a commitment to educational excellence and the Lasallian mission of forming young men of intellect, faith, and integrity.
"I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve Calvert Hall in this new capacity," reflected Freeman. "As both an alumnus and faculty member, I know firsthand how impactful student life is in shaping the Cardinal experience. I look forward to working alongside our students, faculty, and staff to continue building traditions that foster Brotherhood and lifelong memories."
Freeman succeeds Marc Parisi, who concludes an outstanding 20-year career at Calvert Hall, including the past 11 years as Director of Student Activities. During his tenure, Parisi helped elevate the student experience through innovative programming, memorable traditions, and a steadfast commitment to student leadership and engagement.

As Interim Director of Student Activities, Freeman will oversee Calvert Hall's extensive student activities program, working closely with student leaders, moderators, faculty, and staff to continue providing opportunities that strengthen the Brotherhood and enrich the Cardinal experience.
