Calvert Hall Announces Director of the McMullen Scholars Program
Calvert Hall College High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Luczak as the next McMullen Scholars Program Director, one of the region’s premier scholastic high school programs.
Mr. Luczak brings more than two decades of leadership experience in academic medical administration, having held positions at renowned institutions such as the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins University. His transition to high school education has been marked by three impactful years as a Calvert Hall faculty member, where he has taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Advanced Placement Biology.
“I am truly excited to take on the role of the McMullen Scholars Program Director,” shared Luczak. “I have been inspired by the program’s longstanding tradition of promoting intellectual curiosity and leadership in young scholars. I am grateful for the opportunity to build on the strong foundation established by our current faculty, Mr. David Hallman ‘08 and Mr. Louis Miserendino ‘99, as well as our current principal, Dr. Moore. The program’s legacy of personal growth along with academic excellence and exploration is something I hold in the highest regard, and I am thrilled to help shape its next chapter.”
The McMullen Scholars Program offers a transformative academic experience, combining rigorous coursework with distinctive cultural and scholarly enrichment, including field studies and original research. Mr. Luczak’s strong foundation in science and strategic leadership, paired with his passion for education, positions him well to guide the program’s next chapter.
Mr. David Hallman ‘08, McMullen Scholars Program Director from 2022-2025, stated, “I’m so elated for Tony and for the McMullen Program. I’ve been impressed by every interaction I’ve ever had with him, and I know he will bring a deep commitment to supporting our top students both personally and academically. I am extremely grateful for having served the students, families, and alumni who make this Program so special as its Director, and I’m proud of what we accomplished together.” Mr. Hallman will continue to teach in the English Department as well as assist with McMullen Scholar college advising.
Mr. Luczak holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.
