Edwards '82, Wilson '82, Ferrell '84 & Br. D. John Smith, FSC to be recognized by Baltimore Catholic League

Jack Degele, Commissioner, Baltimore Catholic League (BCL), a highly competitive high school boys’ basketball league comprised of eight Catholic schools, has announced the league’s inaugural Hall of Fame Banquet at the Rolling Road Country Club (814 Hilltop Road ~ Catonsville, MD 21228) at 6pm on Thursday, May 19, 2011. The BCL was established for the 1971-72 basketball season and the Hall of Fame will honor past players, coaches and administrators who have contributed to the league’s success over the past 40 years.

The BCL currently consists of Archbishop Spalding, Calvert Hall, John Carroll, Loyola Blakefield, Mount St. Joseph, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, St. Frances Academy and St. Maria Goretti. Archbishop Curley was a charter member, but does not currently compete in the league. Cardinal Gibbons and Towson Catholic also played in the league before recent closures.

The Selection Committee includes former coaches Mark Amatucci '70 (Calvert Hall), Bryan Moorhouse (Gibbons), Dan Popera (Curley), Cokey Robertson (Goretti), Jerry Savage (Loyola), William Wells (St. Frances) and commissioners, Jack Degele (Current) & Jim "Snuffy" Smith (Former).
