Calvert Hall earned its 7th BCL Tournament title with a thrilling 53-52 victory over John Carroll on Monday evening at Towson University. The game was a struggle for the Cardinals who ran into a very hungry John Carroll team who outrebounded the Hall and played stellar defense the entire game. The Hall was inconsistent on the offensive end of the floor the entire night but in the last two minutes the team found a way to be successful. Down by five with two minutes remaining the Hall strung together a few defensive stops and got two driving scores to cut the lead to one with 50 seconds remaining. Calvert Hall then dug in and forced a shot clock violation from the Patriots to retain possession with 15 seconds remaining. The Cards got a shot off with 1.5 seconds remaining which was just short but a great tip in from the weak side with no time remaining allowed the Cardinals to bring home the title. Calvert Hall is now 29-5 and will start preparing to play in the prestigious Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament in Cumberland, MD on March 12,13, and 14.
