The Leadership Institute

At Calvert Hall, we strive to offer excellent academic and co-curricular programs while also developing a student’s faith life. Essentially, we strive to create Men of Intellect, Men of Faith, and Men of Integrity.  Our graduate profile calls us to “provide leadership within the community.” To this end, Calvert Hall is proud to offer a certification program in leadership.  Established in the fall of 2016, the program seeks to be flexible and to be inclusive, allowing students who wish to gain practical leadership skills, the opportunity to learn and grow.

The Leadership Institute Experience

The Leadership Institute is a three-year program structured to fit around the various facets of a student’s busy schedule. Members are active participants in the school community - sports, clubs, activities, and service. In addition to field trips and other experiential learning opportunities, students are invited to attend a Leadership Speaker Dinner Series including small group discussion. Past speakers include Admiral Samuel Locklear who last served as the Commander of the US Pacific Command, Louise Senft, founder of the Baltimore Mediation Center, the first mediation and training firm in Maryland, and many others.

The Leadership Institute Curriculum

The program is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students who meet the requirements outlined for each grade level, and thus successfully complete The Leadership Institute, will be recognized at graduation with a Certificate in Leadership.
