The Calvert Hall varsity basketball team got off to a slow start versus the host Gonzaga Eagles on Sunday afternoon and trailed 26-17 after the first quarter.  The Cardinals had to win every quarter after that to defeat a very talented Gonzaga team.  After increasing their defensive intensity and pressure the Cardinals still trailed the Eagles by 4 with 24 seconds remaining.  The Hall hit a 3 to cut the lead to 1 and then proceeded to foul the Eagles to send them to the line. Gonzaga was equal to the task and hit two free throws to increase the lead back to 3. The Cards once again responded in the face of adversity and knocked down a three to tie the game.  On the ensuing possesion the Hall forced a turnover which lead to a 2-1 break and a great unselfish play to find a teammate in transition.  The Hall was fouled with .4 seconds remaining and hit the first free throw to provide the final margin for victory.
