Gilman hands Cardinals first loss of 2019

Calvert Hall dropped their first match of the season on Thursday, April 11, as Gilman played exceptional golf en route to a 13.5-7.5 win at Country Club of Maryland.

"We didn't play particularly well," coach Forrester explained, "but full credit goes to Gilman.  They were ready to play and produced a lot of outstanding golf against us.  They deserved to win."

Austin Steckler continued his outstanding early season play, collecting all three available individual points for third time in four matches this season.  Lorenzo Sanz earned 1.5 points in his match, while he and Steckler also won the "team point" in their pairing.

"Austin and Lorenzo have teamed up well so far this season," coach Forrester said.  "They have played well individually and as a two-man team."

Forrester was quick to note the Cardinals are still off to a fine 3-1 start in the 12-match season.

"There's a lot of golf left," he said.  "But we're in great shape thus far at 3-1.  We just have to bounce back next week agaisnt Mount Saint Joseph."
