Cards win Championship

An early lead helped Cards defeat Gilman 4-2 on Monday for the 2019 MIAA Championship
 Calvert Hall scored on a double by Parker Landwehr in the first inning, a home run by Peter Marchineck in the second inning, and a stolen base by Jose Torres in the second inning. The Cards knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Garrett McIlhenney singled and Parker Landwehr doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring McIlhenny. Calvert Hall pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Marchineck hit a solo homer and Calvert Hall scored one run on Jose Torres' stolen base.
Marchineck pitched Calvert Hall to victory. He allowed six hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out five. Torres threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Torres recorded the last two outs to earn the save.
Calvert Hall socked one home run on the day. Marchineck had a four bagger in the second inning.
Garrett McIlhenney went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Calvert Hall in hits. The Cards didn't commit a single error in the field. Landwehr had the most chances in the field with six.
