How did the La Salle Program prepare you for college and your career?
I worked with my La Salle teacher to improve my reading and writing skills.  Focused improvement in these areas made me a more complete student.  I was better equipped to precisely express my knowledge of course material both at CHC and at Wesleyan.  I came to prefer courses that required essay responses within exams.
Additionally, La Salle taught me the specific difference between re-reading and studying.  I utilized the La Salle study skill techniques at CHC and Wesleyan.  I use them today when reviewing new product/solution information or studying for training and continuing education credits.
Education: Barry graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia in 1999.  He earned a B.A. in Public Relations with a Business Minor.  While in college, Barry was a member of the Varsity Swim team, played Club Lacrosse and a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
What advice do you have for the current students in the La Salle Program?
“You are twice blessed to be a student at Calvert Hall and in the La Salle Program.  There is no place like CHC.  The La Salle Program is extraordinary amongst programs for students with learning differences.  La Salle offers a unique opportunity for students to devote time to focus on the act of learning and more importantly how they learn individually.  There’s really no subject, in school, where students focus on the actual process of learning.  Once the La Salle student develops a knowledge of how they learn, there really isn’t a standard that they can’t meet or challenge that they can’t overcome. “

Family Life: Barry is married to his college sweetheart, Aubryn.  They have two sons, Reeves and Calen.  Reeves is a member of  Calvert Hall’s Class of 2025.
