Mrs. Ann McKee- La Salle Program Faculty Feature

Mrs. McKee has been working as a Learning Specialist/ Speech Language Pathologist with the La Salle Program for six years. She works with a total of 10 students which she meets with individually each cycle as well as in groups of two or three students.

What do you like best about the La Salle Program and Calvert Hall?
One of the things I really enjoy is getting to know my students as individuals. We ask our students to focus on their challenges, so understanding a bit more about who they are lets me create a comfortable environment for them.  I, also, like having the flexibility to develop a personalized curriculum that meets the needs of each student.

What are your favorite memories of the program or of a particular student?
I have a number of favorite memories!  Here are a few:
  • Celebrating with a student who made Honor Roll for the “first time in his life!”
  • Staying up late on a Teams meeting with a senior who wanted to make sure the final revisions on his English term paper were “perfect.”
  • Seeing my older students mentor my freshmen students “because they want the freshmen to get off to a great start at CHC.”
  • “Graduating” my first group of students that I had taught for 4 years.  Reflecting on the academic skills they had mastered, the self-confidence they had gained, and the level of self-advocacy they were willing to pursue.
  • Having alumni visit and tell you how much LaSalle helped to prepare them for college.
