Day 4 - Haiti Experience by Jake C.

Today may have been my favorite day in Haiti so far. I helped teach an English class on the human body with Brendan M., Brian K., and Sam G. We taught the kids "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" and they had a blast. It was interesting and cool seeing how quickly they picked it up. I taught the kids a handshake and we used it throughout the day and they loved it. It's amazing to see how fun and how accepting these kids are of us. It makes me feel very comfortable with them. I can truly be goofy with them. When the day with them was over, we took pictures with the kids and played with them until they left to go home. After a little napping, we went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima and it was amazing! The view of the mountains and ocean was nothing like I've seen before. It made me realize how small I really am on this planet. The shrine was beautiful as well and very peaceful. I thought I could've sat under one of the chapel tents for hours. There was a place to pray where if you asked for 3 things one is guaranteed to happen. I thought this was really cool. We all prayed and were silent, it was one of the most amazing moments I have ever experienced. We came back to the school and played soccer until it got dark. Once inside we kept playing for about an hour using flashlights and the one overhead light they had on outside the building. Dinner was a great time to share our favorite moments from our time at CHC, sharing laughs and great memories. I will never forget the memories we created today.

And Ma, I have been taking my malaria medicine and putting on plenty of sunscreen and bug spray, so please don't bother Dad by worrying.

Love,
