I am happy to announce Dr. Andrew Moore as Calvert Hall College High School’s next Principal, effective July 1, 2024. After rigorous evaluation of candidates in a national search under highly competitive circumstances using Carney Sandoe & Associates and a Calvert Hall faculty and staff search committee led by myself, Board Chair, Jeffrey Nattans `85, and Board Vice-Chair, Stephen Marshall `82, Calvert Hall acted swiftly to bring Dr. Moore back to Calvert Hall, and we are delighted he chose to rejoin our community.
Dr. Moore has 32 years of educational experience in Catholic institutions and his passion for working with high school students results from a desire to connect with and guide students in their formative years by way of faith, academics, athletics, and activities.
Dr. Moore began his career at The Hall teaching French Language and Advanced Placement French. During his 21-year stint, he also taught Advanced Placement European History, Honors Humanities while serving as the director of the McMullen Scholars Program. Over the course of 14 seasons, he guided the Varsity soccer program to 12 winning seasons, four championship berths, two MIAA “A” titles, and multiple national rankings. His leadership efforts were recognized on local and regional Coach of the Year awards, and as a finalist on the national level.
Currently serving as the President of St. Mary’s School in Annapolis, Maryland, he is responsible for developing and implementing a clear vision, strategy, and organizational plan to advance the parish and the pre-k through 12 school. In his role he also oversees the operating budget, relations with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, curriculum assessment, faculty recruitment, retention, mentoring, and directly supervises the athletics, development and communications departments.
He brings significant experience in identifying and fostering academic excellence. He has served as Vice President for the Maryland Coalition for Gifted and Talented and has been a part of the GT Advisory Council for the Maryland State Department of Education. At the collegiate level, he spent a decade as a professor in the School of Education at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where he served on the Catholic Intellectual Life Committee, the University Curriculum and Academic Policy Committee, and the Ph.D. Committee.  He provided professional development to public and private schools across the state of Maryland, including Calvert Hall, and multiple seminars at national education conferences.
Dr. Moore received his undergraduate degree in French and History from Dickinson College while also being a part of year-long immersion study abroad program at the Université de Toulouse II - Sciences Sociales. He holds a Master’s degree from York University in Toronto, Canada with a specialization in 18th-Century France and Colonial American history. Moore earned his Ph.D in 18th-Century Atlantic History from The Catholic University of America. Moore, his wife, Jeanne, along with their three children, Emma, Grace, and Peter (CHC ’20), are excited to join the Calvert Hall community in this capacity.
I am thrilled for Dr. Moore to join us as the next principal. Please join me in warmly welcoming him back to Calvert Hall College High School.
